A note writen by Silpa

Hi classmates

I think that it is and should be the responsibility of the entire class to participate EQUALLY and UNANIMOUSLY in discussions, even if there is a single representative or a spokesperson representing the ideas and opinions of the class/group. If the class shares a similar opinion, i think they SHOULD speak for themselves even if there is a person speaking on behalf of the class. I hope you guys get what i mean. It is really unfortunate that the people who share the same opinion as the 'representative' do not speak out when questioned.

This is with regard to today's problem of the class not coming prepared for Oroonoko. I only spoke on behalf of the rest of the class (it was the outcome of a discussion we had before approaching the professors, remember?), and it was wrongly construed that it was my personal opinion because none of those who shared similar opinions spoke out.

I feel that people who shared similar views as those that i had expressed should have had the courtesy to speak up for themselves when questioned, instead of remaining silent and letting the 'representative' take the blame. I just felt i needed to make this clear to all our classmates, just so that we can avoid this confusion in the future.

Thank you
Shilpa
